    • Day 1 to 4: Tokyo and day trips to Nikko, Kamakura and Mount Fuji.
    • Day 5: Shinkansen to Kanazawa.

    Pass timing

    Activate the 14 day JR Pass on day 1. Every long ride between cities and the airport express on the last day are all included, plus unlimited JR local rides.

    Optional swaps

    • Swap Kanazawa for Takayama and Shirakawago.
    • Swap Hiroshima for Hakata and Yufuin in Kyushu.
    • Add a 2 day Hokkaido extension via the Hokkaido shinkansen.

    No. Most first time visitors say two weeks felt just right for a balanced trip.

    Is the 14 day pass worth it?

    Can I extend the pass?

    No. Once issued, the validity is fixed. Buy a second pass if you stay longer.
