    Sendai with the JR Pass: gateway to Tohoku

    Sendai is the largest city in Tohoku and just 90 minutes from Tokyo on the Tohoku shinkansen. The JR Pass covers the ride and opens up beautiful day trips along the coast and into the mountains.

    • Tokyo to Sendai by Hayabusa: 1h 30m, JR Pass covered.
    • Yamabiko also runs the route at about 2 hours.
