Blue Birds Rooftop Terrace is by far one of the best rooftop bars in Japan, period. The bar is located on the roof of Osaka Castle’s information center and overlooks Osaka Castle from a short distance.
We managed to find it at random while looking for a toilet a couple of years ago and have visited yearly ever since. We strongly recommend a visit!
K36 overlooks the beautiful Yasaka Pagoda at Hokanji Temple and the Gozan mountains in Kyoto. The restaurant and bar are located on the roof of Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Shimizu and attract visitors to its 360-degree view of Kyoto. The bar is open for both visitors and hotel guests, but only hotel guests can reserve seating in advance during popular seasons.
The full name of this fantastic bar is Rooftop Bar Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills and is located on the 52nd floor. This is one of the highest-located rooftop bars in Tokyo and overlooks the city skyline, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Bay, and the modern Odaiba with its Rainbow Bridge lit up at night.

Cicon Rooftop Bar by Nohga Hotel is located in Kyoto and seats around 40 guests. A smaller, yet stunning and well-recommended rooftop bar overlooking the Kyoto Skyline from the 6th floor. The restaurant specializes in high-end Italian cuisine and local products.
Not really a full-blown rooftop bar, as it’s located on the second floor but a very beautiful and romantic restaurant to visit regardless. The restaurant is located in Rohm Theatre Kyoto Park Plaza, Sakyo Ward at the foot of the Heian Jingu Shrine.
Twenty-Eight Tokyo is located, as the name might spoil on the 28th floor of Conrad Tokyo. The 7-meter-high roof offers an open and luxurious experience during your visit. The restaurant focuses on French cuisine with Business Casual for dinner. Worth keeping in mind that twenty-eight have an age minimum of 11 to enter.
Punk Doily is located in Setagaya City, Oyamadai, Tokyo, and offers crafted beer, drinks as well as food and baked goods. Keep in mind, that this is not a luxury rooftop, this is more of a casual hip hang-around area on top of a terrace with good food and a wide range of crafted beer and drinks.
The Top at The Aoyama Grand Hotel is located in Minato City, Tokyo and offers everything from fantastic nightlife to private parties, food, and great drinks. The botanical music lounge has DJs playing every Friday and Saturday between 18:30 and 22:30.
Enjoy modern Mexican food in the unobstructed sky. Hacienda del cielo is Spanish for House in the Sky, and the restaurant lives up to its name. The restaurant offers sky-dining, bar areas and a luxurious lounge. The restaurant i located on the 9th floor of the Mansard Daikanyama Building in the Shibuya-ku area. Roof Dogs at Aloft Tokyo Ginza is located high above Ginza with its funny yet very interesting Food truck on the rooftop. Neon lights and retro are on the agenda while serving hotdogs, burgers, snacks, crafted beer, sangria, and much more – at a very decent price for the area. A fun place for friends and family.
Balcon Tokyo is located in the popular area of Roppongi, offering a modern-day as well as night rooftop experience. You find the bar on top of Mitsui Garden Hotel Roppongi Tokyo Premier, offering private rooms, karaoke rooms, bars, and lounges for a perfect visit with views overlooking Tokyo and the majestic Tokyo Tower.
