    Yokohama day trip from Tokyo with the JR Pass

    Yokohama sits 25 minutes south of Tokyo and is one of the simplest passholder day trips. The JR Tokaido, Yokosuka and Keihin Tohoku lines all cover the route.

    One day itinerary

    Morning train from Tokyo to Yokohama, walk through Minato Mirai to the Landmark Tower, lunch in Chinatown, afternoon at the Red Brick Warehouse and Yamashita Park, return to Tokyo in the early evening. Every leg between Tokyo and Yokohama is included in the JR Pass.

    Tips

    • Use Sakuragicho station for Minato Mirai, both Tokaido transfers and the Negishi line stop there.
    • Combine Yokohama with Kamakura for a full south Kanto day.
    • Avoid Sunday afternoons when Chinatown is busiest.
