The Japan Rail Pass is issued by the JR Group. Travellers outside Japan buy it through authorized resellers like GetJRPass. Here is how the system works and why it matters.
JR does not run a global ecommerce shop in every country. They appoint resellers like GetJRPass to sell the official exchange voucher abroad, in local currencies and with local support.
The voucher is exchanged for the real pass at any JR Travel Service Centre in Japan.
We are an authorized seller of the Japan Rail Pass. The voucher you receive is the same one issued through JR. In Japan you exchange it for the official pass printed by JR staff.
Avoid pages selling at suspiciously low prices or asking for crypto payments. A real reseller charges in regular currency, has visible support and ships a physical exchange order to your home.
