The JR Kansai Area Pass is a specialized rail pass specifically designed for tourists who are traveling within the Kansai region of Japan. This pass is offered by JR West and it grants unlimited access to JR regional trains, buses, and even some rapid transit services across cities such as Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, and Nara. The pass is a cost-effective way for visitors to explore the cultural and historical treasures of Kansai while its convenience eliminates the need for individual ticket purchases, making transit seamless. 

The pass is available for purchase for 1, 2, 3, or 4 consecutive days, depending on the user’s preference.

The Kansai Area Pass is only available to non-Japanese passport holders under the entry status of “Temporary Visitor”.

You can NOT purchase a Kansai Area Pass if you meet the following:

  • excluded
    Japanese Citizen
  • excluded
    Work visa
  • excluded
    Student visa
  • excluded
    Any other visa than Temporary Visitor.

    Local JR West busses.
  • included
    Haruka Kansai Airport Express (non-reserved seats)

    Special Rapid, Rapid Services, Local train on JR West conventional lines.

    Express Trains

    Expressway buses

Refund in Japan:

Your Kansai Area Pass can be refunded and returned within 90 days of purchase at any Station that exchange the voucher. JR will charge you a 10% processing fee on each Rail Pass.
