    JR Pass airport rail links: which are included

    The JR Pass covers most JR airport trains in Japan, but not all. Here is which airport links you can ride free, and which need an extra ticket.

    Covered by the JR Pass

    • Narita Express from Narita Airport to Tokyo, Shinjuku and Yokohama.
    • Haruka Express from Kansai Airport to Kyoto and Shin Osaka.
    • Rapid Airport from New Chitose to Sapporo.
    • Sora ya Mae shuttle to Fukuoka Airport from Hakata is the local subway, not JR.

    Not covered

    • Tokyo Monorail to Haneda, despite the JR brand. The shorter JR Keikyu route is also separate.
    • Skyliner from Narita, run by Keisei, not JR.
    • Nankai Rapi:t from Kansai Airport, run by Nankai.

    • Activate the pass at the airport JR office to ride for free on the way in.
    • Reserve a seat on Narita Express or Haruka, both have storage racks.
    • From Haneda use the JR Keihin Tohoku via Hamamatsucho or buy a single Monorail ticket.
