Inside the train
- Switch your phone to silent mode and do not take calls.
- Keep conversations quiet, especially during morning and evening hours.
- Do not eat or drink on local trains. It is fine on the shinkansen and most limited express trains.

- Use overhead racks for small bags.
- On the shinkansen, large suitcases require a reserved seat with oversized luggage area.
- Avoid blocking aisles and doors.

Priority seats
- Give up priority seats for elderly people, pregnant women and parents with babies.
- Switch your phone fully off when standing or sitting near priority seats during peak hours.
