    Where to buy a Suica card in Japan

    A physical Suica card is sold at JR stations and airports in eastern Japan. You can also add a digital Suica to your phone before you even land.

    At the airport

    • Narita Airport: Welcome Suica counter at the JR East Travel Service Center, terminals 1 and 2.
    • Haneda Airport: Tokyo Monorail ticket counter for a regular Suica.
    • Both options take cash and most foreign cards.

    At Tokyo stations

    • Any JR ticket machine that shows the IC card symbol.
    • Manned Midori no Madoguchi office at large stations like Tokyo, Shinjuku, Ueno and Shibuya.

    Welcome Suica vs regular Suica

    • Welcome Suica: tourist version, free deposit, valid 28 days.
    • Regular Suica: 500 yen deposit, refundable, no time limit.

    iPhone users with Apple Wallet and Android users with Google Wallet can add a Suica directly. No physical card needed. Top up with a foreign credit card in the Suica app.
