As long as your Japan Rail Pass has not been activated in Japan and the purchase is within 12 months since purchase, we can assist you with a refund. GetJRPass, together with JR, applies a 15 percent refund fee based on the value of the Japan Rail Pass in your order. Shipping costs and transaction fees are non-refundable. This means you will receive an 85 percent refund per Japan Rail Pass minus transaction fees both ways.

The buyer is responsible for returning the Japan Rail Pass in its original condition and for all costs related to the return, including shipping. This is a requirement from JR and applies regardless of your location.

The Japan Rail Pass MCO must be exchanged in Japan for the actual rail pass within 90 days of purchase. If you attempt to exchange it after this period, the request will be declined and the pass cannot be used. For this reason, we recommend ordering your pass 3 to 4 weeks before departure. This provides enough time to resolve any delivery issues and offers flexibility in case your flight is canceled or rescheduled. As part of our service, we ship your Japan Rail Pass as early as the next business day.

Your Japan Rail Pass is an open purchase valid for one year. This means you may request an 85 percent refund of the original pass value, excluding shipping and transaction fees, provided you can prove that the pass has not been issued and you return it physically to our office. The pass must be received by us before the refund process can begin as to requirements from JR.
