Get your JR Pass in 3 simple steps
Order your Japan Rail Pass online
Order your Japan Rail Pass online from GetJRPass, an authorized JR Pass agent. Choose 7, 14 or 21 days in ordinary or green class and pay in your local currency.
Receive your exchange voucher at home
We ship a physical exchange voucher (MCO) to your home with tracked express delivery. Bring the original voucher to Japan. Photos or copies are not accepted.
Exchange the voucher in Japan
Show your exchange voucher and passport with a temporary visitor stamp at any JR exchange office within 90 days of issue. Staff print your name, passport details and chosen start date directly on your physical pass.
Travel with your JR Pass
Insert the pass into the automatic ticket gate and collect it on the other side. Seat reservations are free: scan the QR code on your pass at a shinkansen ticket machine or ask JR staff.
Keep in mind...
There are some trains and services that are not covered by the Japan Rail Pass:
The Hikari Shinkansen runs on the same route as Nozomi, at the same speed, with just a few extra stops. The total time difference between Tokyo and Kyoto is only 17 minutes.
