    Train choices

    • Sakura: fastest passholder option, around 1 hour 30 minutes.
    • Hikari: similar time, fewer per hour but very comfortable.
    • Kodama: stops at every station, around 2 hours 30 minutes.
    • Nozomi and Mizuho are excluded from the standard pass.
    02

Single fare vs the JR Pass

A one way reserved seat on Sakura from Shin Osaka to Hiroshima is around 10,600 yen. A 7 day JR Pass at 50,000 yen pays back if you also use it for the Tokyo leg, a Kyoto base or a continuation to Hakata.

    • Day trip to Miyajima from Hiroshima: JR Sanyo line to Miyajimaguchi, then JR ferry, both covered by the pass.

    Suggested 2 day plan
