The Green Pass is the first class version of the Japan Rail Pass. It grants you access to Green cars (グリーン車) on Shinkansen bullet trains and limited express services - the equivalent of first class or business class seating.
Named after the green four-leaf clover symbol that marks these premium carriages, Green class has been JR's premium offering since 1969. It provides a noticeably more spacious and refined travel experience.
Like the Ordinary Pass, the Green Pass offers unlimited travel on JR trains nationwide. The difference is purely in comfort - you'll travel in wider seats with more legroom and premium amenities.
