I’m from Argentina and I’ll be traveling to japan from mid november to the end of december. I’ve been checking that there will be a price increase in October, but that the JRPass can be activated at any point 90 days after purchase and from that moment it is valid for the amount of days the pass was bought (7, 14 or 21). So my questions would be:
- Can I buy it this month before the price increase and activate it in November? If so:
- Does the price increase have a specific date? So as to buy it as late as possible before the price increase and have more freedom of choice on when to activate it since the trip will be long.
- Also are there any problems with shipping to Argentina and how much is the cost?

Hi Adrian,
Your Japan Rail Pass can be purchased before October 1st and activated whenever you want within 90 days, even if October 1st has passed – without paying anything extra. It would be very benefital for you to order before that and save 60-70%. The passes being issued today have a latest date to be activated around early December, so you have nothing to worry about if you intened to activate mid November and want to order today.
You have 90 days to activate, which gives you the freedom to choose when you’d like to start using the pass. We don’t set a specific date on the pass, only a earliest and latest date to activate it (the span of 90 days).
As for the shipping, we do whip world wide. The current listprice to Argentina is 28 EUR with UPS Express.
