- Sunrise Seto: Tokyo to Takamatsu, Shikoku.
- Sunrise Izumo: Tokyo to Izumoshi, San in coast.
- Both trains depart Tokyo around 22:00 and arrive next morning.
Sleeper trains
Japan once had dozens of sleeper trains. Today only the Sunrise Seto and Sunrise Izumo remain, running nightly from Tokyo. The JR Pass partially covers them, with a few rules to know.
The base fare is covered by the JR Pass. Berths and private compartments require an extra limited express and sleeper supplement. The Nobi Nobi carpeted seat is the cheapest add on and is the most popular option for pass holders.
