We arr travelling from South Africa to Japan on the 20th September 2024. Can we buy a day pass for rail travel? We are going to be in Japan for 16 days, so we are thinking of purchasing a 14 day pass and pay either cash or travelling by bus the 1st two days.

Hi Steyn, I’m affraid there isn’t any 1-day by day option, but you can get a Suica card once you land in Japan for free and charge it with 100-200 yen and use for the local lines etc untill you activate your Japan Rail Pass.
