hi we’re traveling to Japan on 13th December, and would like to enquire if in case I purchase the JR Pass by this September, will the validity of activation of the JR Pass no longer applicable? We will be in Japan between 13-19 December so 7-days pass is applicable right? Also, we will try to visit Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara & Osaka, will the JR pass be accepted in these regions? Hope someone can clarify and help me. Thanks!
Hi MJ, you can activate the pass within 90 days of purchase, so if your order of JR Pass is placed late september, there’s no issue to activate the pass during December.
As for the pass in the cities you mentioned, there are multiple train and loop lines you may use as well as Shinkansen trains between the citites itself. I’d say having a japan rail pass would be very beneficial for your route.
