Travelling from Osaka to Tokyo then Tokyo to Osaka – Worth it to purchase JR pass ?
Will be travelling from Osaka to tokyo then tokyo back to Osaka, is it worth it to purchase a JR Pass ?
How to activate the JR Pass in Singapore ?
Thanks.
Hi Jenny!
I’d say it’s well worth it. The price of a 7 days JR Pass is about the same as the cost of the Shinkansen ride from Osaka > Tokyo > Osaka. If you intend to visit Nara, Kobe, Kyoto or similar places during your stay, you’re already saving money.
Your Japan Rail Pass can also be used for JR’s subway lines in Tokyo, which is about half of the city’s metrosystem.
As for the activation in Singapore. We have multiple clients every month in Singapore and ship with UPS Express. All JR Passes has to be shipped out physically, regardless of which official partner you purchase from, so keep in mind that it will require a couple of days.
You will recive an MCO (exchange voucher) wich you bring to Japan along with your passport and trade in for an actual JR Pass at the airport or any major train station. JR have gone for an exhange voucher to give the user the option to activate it whenever they want within 90 days or purchase instead of setting an exact day before your trip.
In conclusion, I’d say you’ll save both time and money with a JR Pass as you don’t have to wait in line to buy tickets etc. And as for your JR Pass to Singapore, we ship to you and you’ll have it in a couple of days at most.
Hope this was of help and that you have a wonderful stay in Japan!
With kind regards, Jonathan H.

- I have a plan to explore from Nagoya – Osaka – Kyoto – Kobe – Tokyo, what kind of JR pass to be purchased…? how many days the validity of JR pass..?
- If I have JR pass with duration 5 days, can I use over and over…?
Hi Bayu!
I’d say the JR Pass is well worth it for your trip. But it all depends on how long you plan to stay in each city.
Your Japan Rail Pass can be used as many times as you’d like during the validation time. You can purchase 7, 14 or 21 days and which you find most fitting is up to you depending on how long your stay in Japan is and what you plan to do while you’re there. In this case, it depends on how many days you’d like to stay at each destination.
You could also use your Japan Rail Pass on the JR Subway lines in Tokyo (not metro), visit Nara while in Kyoto, Kobe or Osaka and so much more.
Let me know if there’s anything else we can do to help and hope you have a wonderful time in Japan! 🙂
With kind regards, Jonathan H.
